Blood Red Firecracker Swordtail

The Blood Red Firecracker Swordtail is a striking livebearer prized for its intense red coloration and bold appearance. Mature males develop the characteristic elongated lower tail, or “sword,” which adds to their impressive look. Their deep red color and energetic personality make them a standout addition to planted tanks, community aquariums, and breeding setups.

Hardy, active, and relatively easy to care for, Blood Red Firecracker Swordtails are an excellent choice for both beginner and experienced fish keepers. They appreciate plenty of swimming space and thrive in well-maintained aquariums with stable water conditions.

Care Level: Easy
Temperament: Peaceful to Semi-Peaceful
Adult Size: Approximately 3–5 inches
Minimum Tank Size: 20 gallons
Temperature: 72–82°F

Water Level: Middle to Top

Blood Red Firecracker Swordtails are active swimmers and do well with other peaceful community fish of similar size. When keeping males and females together, a ratio of approximately 1 male to 2–3 females is recommended to help reduce stress on the females.

For healthy growth and intense coloration, provide a varied diet of quality flakes or pellets supplemented with foods such as brine shrimp, daphnia, and vegetable-based foods.

Please note: The intensity of red coloration, fin shape, body size, and sword length naturally vary between individual fish. Males typically develop the distinctive sword as they mature. Photos are representative of the variety and may not depict the exact fish received.
